BioTrade refers to those activities of collection, production, transformation, and commercialization of goods and services derived from biodiversity under the criteria of environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The initiative was born in 1996 with the purpose of introducing some ethnic and rural communities to the global trade without affecting the environment, and without being susceptible to be exploited, since then Biotrade has directly contributed by 94% to most of the SDG's .

Even though the initiative was mainly focus on short communities the objectives and bases are scalable to a global perspective, such as:

• Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP).

• Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security

• Organic Agriculture
